About
As long as I can remember, I have always had an opinion about one thing, or another, I guess being from New York City, this comes relatively easy. My father when I was growing up, always had some kind of business that he would work from home.
Don’t get me wrong, he had his 9 to 5 job, but he always wanted to be his own boss, and he was successful in doing so, and I admired that. My dad did everything from shining shoes from his small candy store in the Bronx, to
selling crushed ice, with raspberry syrup on a hot day at the park.
One summer, I must have put on 20 plus pounds, eating so much candy and drinking 7UP, orange & grape soda, I looked like a walking bowling ball with legs. Ok so this is back in the day, when kids when out to play the word play means running around having fun, not in front of some video game for hours. The fun lasted until the street lights came on.
If you didn’t get home before dark there was going to be serious trouble, which you wanted to avoid at all cost. My mother also had he little side business going, making some extra money to help the family. She had a regular job working in a sewing machine factory making garments for the major retailers. Then in her spare time she would sew for people in the neighborhood, even making a wedding dress for a good friend, back in the day. I learn many valuable lessons from my mom & dad, one of them was to have a quality product.
Once a customer sees the value and the quality of your product or service, the sale becomes second nature. Then the second lesson was to have great customer service, if you have those two things mastered, then you’re alright, as my dad would say “you’re good to go”. Never be afraid of competition, make adjustments to whatever you’re selling, and things generally worked out fine.
I’m an ordinary guy with an extraordinary job, research information and report what you find. Making money without a job seems like a great title for my blog, since a lot of my friends are struggling to make ends meet. I have worked in the trenches from the ground up in many companies, and also been in many management and director positions in my entire 20 year career. My job now is very rewarding, and it brings no pain with it. So the best advice I could give anyone, from my life experience, do what you like, and like what you do, fire your job; hire your career, follow the dream, it might just surprise you.
